Against the backdrop of multiple turning points, increasingly urgent design tasks are emerging. The rapid technological advances - exemplified by ChatGPT, named Word of the Year 2023 - are fascinating and unsettling in equal measure. At the same time, we are facing comprehensive transformation processes: the energy and mobility transition, the digital renewal of the state and society as well as fundamental reforms in education and healthcare systems in the face of demographic change. The high level of complexity, enormous dynamism and potentially disruptive upheavals are creating considerable uncertainty in politics, business and society, while the pressure to make decisions is constantly growing.
