Consolidating Sustainable-Digital Transformation Processes in Cities
Follow-up Report on the Working Meeting of March 6, 2026
Sustainable-digital innovations offer promising prospects for the transformation of cities and municipalities. However, for these projects to achieve their full impact, they must be translated into permanent structures, clear responsibilities, and robust IT systems. In many cases, solutions developed during a promising pilot phase fail to become fully embedded in administrative practice, or the innovation effort cannot be scaled into a replicable product that could also benefit other cities. Projects should therefore not be left to fend for themselves once the funding period has ended. To prevent this from happening, consolidation strategies are essential.
