Justus Schuchardt leads the Academy Program at the Urban Digitainability Lab. He designs training and networking opportunities that empower municipal employees to actively shape the twin transition – the simultaneous digital and sustainable transformation. The goal is to systematically embed transformation competencies within municipal structures and translate employees’ expertise into effective action.

Before joining the Urban Digitainability Lab, Justus Schuchardt was the founder and managing director of UPLab in Berlin, where he led urban innovation projects at the intersection of technology, participation, and urban development. His previous roles also include working as a Senior Consultant at Rambøll in Berlin and Copenhagen, as a research associate at TU Berlin, and in research, teaching, and consulting in the field of sustainable urban planning.

He holds a Master’s degree in “Sustainable Cities” from Aalborg University in Copenhagen and a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning from HfWU Nürtingen-Geislingen. His work connects urban transformation processes with digital innovation, transformative learning spaces, and participatory governance.
