Over the past year, the conversation around digital sovereignty has evolved significantly, shaped by shifting geopolitical realities, AI governance debates, cybersecurity challenges, and Europe's pursuit of technological autonomy. This roundtable, moderated by Philipp Müller and Sofie Schönborn, brings together policy leaders, industry experts, and researchers to reflect on how priorities have changed and what strategic directions lie ahead.

Through a dynamic discussion format, we will explore the lessons learned from 2024, key developments incloud & AI regulation, cybersecurityresilience, and the intersection of technological excellence and sovereignty. Participants will share practical insights on how governments and enterprises are navigating this rapidly changing landscape.

This series and the resulting collection of texts is designed to provoke thought, encourage dialogue among decision-makers, and support informed decision-making in an increasingly complex digital world. Our aim is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, thereby creating a guide for shaping a sovereign and collaborative digital future.

About Philipp Müller

 

Philipp is dedicated to advancing the resilient digital transformation of governments, multilateral institutions, and global society. He is Vice President for the Public Sector at DriveLock SE, a Fellow at the TUM Think Tank, and a BKC Circle member at the Harvard Berkman Klein Center. With senior leadership roles at Amazon Web Services, Gartner, and DXC, Philipp brings extensive experience at the intersection of technology and policy. He has taught and conducted research at Tecnológico de Monterrey, the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, and the Harvard Kennedy School. An accomplished author, he has published books and articles on digital transformation. Philipp holds a PhD from Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich.
