What shapes the future of AI: what the technology can do, or what we believe it is?
As decisions around artificial intelligence increasingly influence how we work, create and organize society, our understanding of AI itself becomes part of the debate.
Researchers from Aalto University will join TUM for two short public talks exploring societal AI futures from two distinct perspectives: the ethics of creative AI and the changing role of AI in knowledge work.
The event opens an Aalto–TUM research visit to the wider TUM and Munich community and offers an opportunity to meet researchers involved in the emerging collaboration on societal AI futures.

Anticipatory Technology Ethics for Creative AI
Camilo Sanchez, Aalto University
How can we anticipate the ethical implications of technologies before their societal effects are fully visible? Camilo Sanchez will explore anticipatory approaches to technology ethics in the context of creative AI and consider how future possibilities can be incorporated into present-day decision-making.
A Relational Perspective on AI in Knowledge Work
Emrecan Gülay, Aalto University
Rather than looking at AI only as a tool, this talk approaches AI through the relationships it creates and transforms. Emrecan Gülay will examine how AI affects practices, roles and interactions in knowledge-intensive work.

About the collaboration
Aalto University and TUM are developing a joint research partnership on societal AI futures, supported by the Aalto–TUM Cooperation Initiative.
The collaboration brings together researchers interested in how emerging AI technologies interact with questions of democracy, equality, work and public life, while laying the groundwork for future joint research initiatives.
The event is organized in collaboration with the TUM Civic Machines Lab / Chair of Societal Computing and the Aalto University Department of Design.
