Maria Koomen
Maria Koomen is an independent policy analyst working at the intersection of technology and democracy. She produces analysis and workshops for people who are in a position to make a difference for the common good.
At the TUM Think Tank, Maria coordinates the Better Regulation Hub, which puts the EU’s better regulation standards to work on its digital rulebook, including its first policy sprint on the Digital Fitness Check. As Affiliate (Policy), she also brings her experience in building cross-sector networks and in turning policy analysis into practice-oriented formats such as workshops into the TUM Think Tank’s labs.
Her previous roles include Governance Director at the Centre for Future Generations in Brussels, leading the Open Governance Network for Europe (a joint initiative of the Open Government Partnership and Democratic Society), and managing the Democracy, Conflict, and Governance Program at Carnegie Europe.
