GovTech Initiative at the TUM Think Tank

The world around us is changing at an astonishing pace, with technology transformation across nearly every facet of life. The public sector is no exception. However, given the massive transformation challenges faced by the state, economy, and society, the urgency for action is growing. It is becoming increasingly clear that we need to upgrade our digital processes and democratic operating systems.

As a learning partner and knowledge platform, the GovTech Initiative of the TUM Think Tank provides centralized access to top-tier, evidence-based research. It expands networks, inspires students to pursue innovations in the public sector, promotes lifelong learning, and thereby helps to make public administration in Germany both innovative and future-proof.

We believe that integrating digital technologies with innovative thinking and action is crucial for modernizing government and administrative services, enhancing public service delivery, and strengthening democracy. By employing digital solutions, administrative processes are made more efficient, repetitive tasks are automated or reduced, and employees are once again able to achieve greater significance and impact with their work. This requires a responsible and effective approach in the development, procurement, and use of innovative technology.

With the GovTech Initiative, we will:

• Expand Networks, Deepen Collaborations, and Promote Ecosystems.
  We are enhancing cooperation between administration and academia, as well as the tech and innovation scene in business, media, and civil society.
• Conducting Evidence-Based Research at the Intersection of Public Administration and Technology.
  We facilitate innovation and digital transformation of public administration by providing excellent, evidence-based research to develop reliable solutions to the most urgent challenges facing the public sector.
• Inspire Students for Innovation in Government and Administration.
  We are deeply committed to engaging students from technical and social sciences with targeted offerings, encouraging them to become future change makers and public entrepreneurs in the public sector.
• Lifelong-Learning in Public Administration.
  Through our continuing education and training programs,we facilitate knowledge exchange, develop new skills, and promote an open mindset on innovation, transformation, and technology in public administration.
