As part of a TUM-wide push to advance sustainability and co-create solutions with policymakers, the Transformation Finance Lab (TF Lab) was launched in July 2024 with attendance from leading financial firms, start-ups, and university teams from Munich. The TF Lab is closely linked to Prof. Egli’s research group Public Policy for the Green Transition at the School of Social Sciences and Technology.

“Fundamentally, we ask the question: How can finance be a force for change and help build sustainable economies and societies? I believe that such change requires data and tools, but above all collaboration.“ - Florian Egli, Transformation Finance Lab.

The TF Lab works on three strategic pillars: community building, policy change, and data & tools. An interactive dashboard to visualize global climate finance flows will soon go online and a fully-fledged strategy will be published early 2025.

TL;DR

The Transformation Finance Lab gathers tomorrow’s doers in the finance industry to build a community of practice. It connects this community to policymakers and helps shape and co-create policy to mobilize finance for the sustainability transformation. The Lab builds tools necessary to implement change, leveraging TUM’s capabilities in data analysis and visualization.
